Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past two days (or don’t have access to any form of social media), you likely know Camila Cabello left Fifth Harmony.

First, Fifth Harmony posted a statement the night after the group’s last performance on the Jingle Ball Tour together in Miami, Florida on Sunday, Dec. 18.

While I wasn’t too surprised Camila was leaving Fifth Harmony, I was shocked she was leaving this soon and that the news was dropped so suddenly. 9:00pm on a Sunday seems like a strange time to release such a huge announcement.

One line of the group’s statement stood out to many fans: “Informed via her representatives.” Yikes. Camila didn’t tell the girls herself?

The next morning, Camila finally released a statement telling her side of the story. She said, “I was shocked to read the statement the Fifth Harmony account posted without my knowing. The girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations about the future we had during tour.”

This left fans wondering: Why did 5H post the statement without Camila knowing? What really went down?

In the midst of all this chaos, an audio clip of a voice allegedly belonging to group member Lauren Jauregui crying to Ally Brooke surfaced online. In the clip, the voice can be heard saying, “Making decisions on a regular basis to f*** us over, to make us literal slaves, like literally slaves, Ally. We’re doing f***ing labor everyday and we see nothing.”

Wow. This left us all feelings like there’s way more turmoil going on behind closed doors with 5H than we all realized.

Then, just when we thought the drama was over, Fifth Harmony posted another statement, saying they tried to talk to Camila and convince her to stay with the group, but she wouldn’t listen, detailing that she didn’t show up to meetings with their record label head L.A. Reid or group counseling.

“So no, after months of rejection from her and her team, these supposed lengthy conversations in fact never happened, although we pleaded,” the four remaining girls said in a group statement.

I think it’s clear from all of these statements that Camila made up her mind a long time ago that she wanted to leave 5H at the end of 2016 and the girls knew that, thus why they were trying to coordinate meetings and counseling to keep the group together.

It sounds like she didn’t show up to these meetings, because she didn’t want to change her mind. She was leaving 5H and that was that. The girls knew Camila was unhappy in 5H, but her representatives just delivered the official news, detailing the exact date she was leaving.

I will still continue to support both Fifth Harmony and Camila in her solo endeavors. While I believe the remaining four girls will continue to kill it, I have to admit the group won’t be the same without her. It’s tough any time a musical group loses one of its founding members.

However, look at One Direction! They still experienced tremendous success after Zayn Malik left.

Mostly, I just wish this all would’ve been handled better. I wish this wouldn’t have played out as a they said, she said. I wish both Fifth Harmony and Camila would’ve presented their statements on a united front, because the way this all went down just made everyone look messy.
